NO WARRANTY

While reading my newest book (Eat Cake) during my lunch break at work I was struck by a simple line that has left me profoundly sad.

"Life was not a static experience. We shouldn't expect things to remain the same."
-Jeanne Ray in the book EAT CAKE

The reason I am left feeling so sad is that I believe this to be soo true. I have spent my life taking pictures, trying to hold on to those special moments that are soo fleeting.

ICECAPADES

On a winter evening when the temperature was near -15°C, there was a severe chill in the air, and leaving the house without mittens would have been disastrous, I found myself warmed by the presence of two lovely friends; Kathryn and Lisa.

We spent the evening at the Ice on Whyte exhibit near the Strathcona Library Sunday evening. We toured the ice castle, viewed all the sculptures that were on display, and even rode the ice slides.

My camera this evening was misbehaving, I had brand new batteries and the camera kept telling me the batteries were depleted. So for nearly ten minutes I had Kathryn and Lisa standing in front of the ice castle smiling and posing for other people entering the ice castle, it was most amusing.

The artisans had sculptured several slides for the brilliant event, including several ones intended for children. However that did not stop those who considered themselves to be only "Young at Heart," from enjoying them. There was also a large 'adult size only slide' that generously provided you with proper sliding equipment and instructions on how to accumulate the most speed on the travel downwards.

Kathryn maneuvered her way victoriously through the ice maze with Lisa's brilliant advice. "Always keep your right hand on the wall at all times, it may take you longer, but you will ALWAYS get out!

MY MONA LISA

I think your whole life shows in your face and you should be proud of that. ~Lauren Bacall

I love Faces, and that correlates into why I love pictures so much. I especially love group shots, each person in the photo holds there own precious story. I believe a really talented photographer has the skills to make those stories more apparent, more visible to the onlooker. Look at there smiles, look at there eyes, look at what they are doing with there hands?

Each girl in this picture has a unique and different story, and for just one brief moment they share a story.
