PLAY TIME?

On the weekend a friend of mine asked a general question, well I think it was more of a statement then a question, but it has begun to really trouble and bother me. It was asked if we notice how we don't 'play' anymore, how as children we used to just 'play.'

It really got me thinking, its so true (at least for me). I make coffee dates, or make plans to go tobogganing, or plane to meet up with my friends for a movie. I don't really just stop by randomly to hang out or 'play.' I also guess my living so far out in the boonies makes it difficult for others to pop in, also I think I can be a little shy and that always makes a conversation awkward, and no one really enjoys awkward talks. The whole notion of being able to just 'play' as I once did as a child sounds so delightful.

HOME ON THE RANGE

I truly believe that everyone should have a place they can go and experience peace. Just a simple place that they can be alone in there thoughts. A place that they treasure, that they feel comfortable to drift off into day dreams and contemplate the complexities of the universe, or the reasons why pizza is soo addicting. For many people this is a coffee/tea shop, for others it's a couch in there basement for me it's the British Museum that I discovered on my travels this summer.

The Great Court is a huge structural skylight that leaves me the ability to stare into the sky and just dream.
The coffered ceilings in one of the Egyptian rooms reminds me of the beauty that humans are capable of constructing.
For me the greatest pieces are the statues and sculptures. I am so consumed by all the detail and work that goes into something so beautiful.

I love to dream about the lifestyles and the stories of the people whom the sculptures are portraying.
